Q: Can therapy really help me?
A: Yes! Therapy is a joint effort and with openness, honesty, and sincere effort on your behalf, therapy can be tremendously helpful in assisting you with exploring and applying new solutions to old and/or new problems.
Q: What are your business hours?
A: RMCW understands that access to mental healthcare amid one's work/school schedule can be a barrier therefore, we are pleased to offer after-hour and weekend services. We are open Monday-Friday from 9:00-6:00 PM and on Sundays from 1-4 PM (appointment only).
Q: Do you provide teletherapy sessions (phone, video, etc.)?
Q: What forms of payment do you accept?
A: RMCW accepts cash, checks, all major credit cards as well as Zelle, CashApp and PayPal.
Q: Do you offer consultations?
A: We offer a FREE 10-15 minute initial consultation. This consultation can be held in the office, by phone or via Telehealth through the HIPAA compliant Simple Practice portal.
Q: What should I expect during my first therapy session?
A: Since the therapy process and outcome are connected to the therapeutic relationship, the first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other. It is also an opportunity for you to see if you feel comfortable with your therapist and their therapy style.
Q: Do you prescribe medication?
A: As a Licensed Professional Counselor, we do not prescribe medication however, we respect individual decisions to use or not use medication. With your written permission, we are happy to work collaboratively with your primary care physician or psychiatrist.
Q: Are sessions confidential?
A: The law protects the relationship between a client and a therapist and without a signed release of information from you, I am ethically and legally bound to protect your right to privacy. There are however a few exceptions which are: mandated reporting of disclosure of abuse or neglect, the disclosure of harm to self or others and/or basic diagnosis and dates of treatment to your insurance provider.
Q: Can I use my insurance benefits?
A: RMCW accepts most major insurances and depending on your health insurance provider/plan, it is possible for your therapy services to be covered in full or in part. Please contact your provider to verify if and how your plan compensates you for therapy services. When contacting insurance, we recommend asking these questions to your insurance provider:
- Does my health insurance plan include mental health services?
- Do I have a deductible? If so, what is it and have I met it yet?
- Do I have a co-pay or co-insurance fee? If so, what is my fee?
- Does my plan limit how many sessions per calendar year I can have? If so, how many therapy sessions are covered?
- Do I need a referral from my primary care physician to access my mental health service benefits?
Q: How often should I attend therapy?
A: Weekly sessions are recommended as they foster a strong therapeutic relationship and builds momentum towards your therapy goals however, depending on the nature and intensity of your presenting problem(s), sessions could be more or less frequent. Whatever the frequency, your therapy will be tailored to your specific needs.
Q: How many therapy sessions will I need?
A: Therapy is a process that requires time to unfold therefore, the answer to question can vary from person to person. The number of sessions you require will depend upon your goals, history, and presenting problem(s). Typically speaking, meaningful progress can be made within as little as 6-10 therapy sessions however, many opt to continue therapy for several months because they find that the benefits justify their continued investment of time, effort, and resources.
Q: How long does a single therapy session last?
A: Standard therapy sessions are 53 minutes in length. Extended sessions are generally between 70-90 minutes. Please contact your therapist in advance to discuss extended session options and pricing.
Q: What happens if I cannot attend a session?
A: It is important for us to meet consistently for you to meet your goals however, we do understand that life happens. If you cannot make a scheduled appointment, please notify us within 24 hours of your scheduled appointment. Sessions that are missed or not cancelled with at least 24 hours notice will be charged the full session fee.
